Steel Cutting Ceremony Marks Key Milestone in Construction of First CSL OWL SRI Vessel

Construction is officially underway on our first purpose-built Subsea Rock Installation (SRI) vessel, following the steel cutting ceremony on September 12, 2025.

The event marks the first phase of construction for the first of two purpose-built SRI vessels, designed to set new standards in cost-effective, efficient and sustainable subsea rock installation for offshore wind farms.

At the steel-cutting ceremony, CSL OWL Project Manager Piet Jan van der Giessen had the honour of activating the laser cutting machine for the first steel plate destined for the SRI vessel.

Designed for peak performance in water depths up to 100 metres, each vessel will feature:

  • 17,500 metric tonnes of cargo capacity
  • Dynamic Positioning (DP2) technology
  • Dual-fuel engines capable of operating on marine gas oil and methanol

The CSL OWL SRI newbuilds are tailored to meet the demands of a rapidly growing offshore wind sector, offering optimal flexibility and performance.
