Introduction
At Offshore Wind Logistics B.V. in Rotterdam, we are looking for a Technical Superintendent who will act as the vital link between design, commissioning, and operations of our high-end DP2 offshore vessels. In this role, you are in the lead when it comes to subsea rock installation equipment, power management, electrical installations, shipbuilding systems, and Dynamic Positioning.
For us, safety, reliability, and compliance are not just words—they are embedded in everything we do. And with your expertise, you ensure they remain at the highest standard throughout every phase of our projects.
What will you do?
As our Technical Superintendent, you take full responsibility for the technical integrity of two newly built DP2 offshore vessels. You ensure that they are fully operational and ready for deployment. Your responsibilities include:
- Commissioning & operational readiness: You support technical acceptance, FAT, SAT, sea trials, and the handover to operations. You validate mechanical systems, diesel-electric propulsion, power management, and DP systems (e.g., Kongsberg or ABB).
- Design approval & technical advisory: You review engineering drawings, P&IDs, cable and piping layouts, ship structures, and heavy offshore equipment. You provide technical approvals and carry out risk assessments in line with ISM-SOLAS and offshore classification standards.
- Operational support: You assist our crew and operations teams with complex troubleshooting and failure management involving propulsion units, generator sets, ballast, and thruster systems. You initiate Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and implement reliability improvements and preventive maintenance strategies.
- Liaison & coordination: You act as the technical link between COS, our ship management company (OSM), contractors, and suppliers. You safeguard contractual and technical agreements, coordinate inspections and audits, and report directly to our CTO on risks, performance, and budget impact.
- SHEQ compliance: You ensure adherence to HSE standards, carry out technical inspections, participate in toolbox meetings, and contribute to incident investigations.
This role requires approximately 20% offshore or shipyard presence. During these periods, you take a hands-on approach to technical challenges while safeguarding compliance and safety standards.
What do you bring?
We are looking for a senior professional who combines deep technical expertise with extensive offshore experience. You are analytically strong, decisive, and communicate effectively at all levels. With around 20% of your time spent on-site, you are also willing to travel internationally, for example to China.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a similar field.
- At least 8 years of experience as a Technical Superintendent, Senior Marine Engineer, or Chief Engineer within the offshore, maritime, or dredging industry.
- Experience with DP2 vessels, rock handling, or dredging.
- In-depth knowledge of diesel-electric propulsion, power management systems, thrusters, ballast and DP systems, and heavy offshore equipment.
- Experience working with classification societies (LR, DNV, ABS) and compliance with ISM-SOLAS.
What do we offer you?
At Offshore Wind Logistics, we offer you a role that matches your seniority—combining responsibility, autonomy, and international exposure:
- A gross annual salary between €65,000 and €80,000, depending on your experience.
- 24 vacation days, 8% holiday allowance, and an 8.33% year-end bonus.
- Flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home.
- Full autonomy in how you carry out your responsibilities.
- The opportunity to work on international projects involving DP2 offshore vessels and heavy offshore equipment.
- A team of highly skilled technical professionals and access to cutting-edge technologies.
- The opportunity to define technical standards and drive structural improvements within our organization.
